Over heating
I have a 96 xlt when I drive it the temp continues to climb till it overheats I have replaced the water pump twice the thermostat twice all hoses and the radiator, the clutch fan was replaced.with a electric fan any help it doesn't run hot unless it is driven idle doesn't seem to bother it it has about 425,000 miles on the stock motor and transmission. Transmission is a auto if that helps

Is overflow tank getting full or does it bubble at all?
Double check fan belt routing, on some engines you can reverse water pump direction with the wrong routing so don't get full flow from pump
Quick test:
Cold engine
Remove radiator cap
Top up radiator
Leave rad cap off and start cold engine
Watch for coolant overflowing, it shouldn't
A little burp of fluid is OK but then level should stay at the top and not overflow
If you are getting overflowing then you probably have a bad head gasket or cracked head.
Let it idle for at least 3 or 4 minutes
Longer test, the Glove Test:
get a latex glove and rubber band, or a balloon or even a condom
Cold engine
remove rad cap
remove overflow hose, plug this port on rad with vacuum cap, gum, putty, ???
Place glove over rad cap opening and seal it with rubber band, or use balloon or condom over opening
Disconnect Coil, unplug 4 wire connector, you want a no start
Crank engine over and watch Glove, it should just lay there
If glove starts to Bounce up and down then you do have a bad head gasket or cracked head.
If glove bounces remove 1 spark plug at a time and crank engine over, when glove stops bouncing then last spark plug removed is from the bad/leaking cylinder, replace spark plug to confirm.
No, you don't always get coolant in the oil with a blown head gasket.
Even if you are sure it is not a bad head gasket do the Glove test, it is 100% accurate unlike chemical tests
