PCV Valve Hose Assembly -- HELP!

Hi Guys,

I've been having a weird idle issue lately and have traced it down to the PCV Valve hose. It has a huge kink in it and it's restricting air making the truck seem like it's surging. I went to ford and asked for just the hose but they said they only have the full assembly. My problem is I have it ready to put in, but how do I get the old one out? There's no room to pull it out because of the firewall being right there. It only comes out just a bit. How do I get the whole thing out?

Here's a pic of the new one I'm trying to put in.

The easiest way is to take the elbow off the new one and put it on the old tube.

1/4 twist. After you take all the crap off in that tiny space. Mine has the heated pcv. Can't imagine what problem that was supposed to solve. Wasn't the problem anyhow.

I’m about to change mine out in an ‘05 4.0L with the coolant line around the body of the valve. It appears you have to take off the hoses on the coolant lines to remove the valve from being surrounded by the “U” of the aluminum tube the coolant lines connect to. The space to work with is extremely cramped. I’m using a spark plug boot puller to remove the hoses to avoid damage. Did you plug the coolant hoses to avoid air getting in the coolant system?
