Today i filled up with 87 octane....outside temp almost 90f...AC on and no pinging ...i did notice big difference between the 87 and 89 octane less power with 87, i will keep using 87. So it looks like the cam sensor has something to do with the ignition timing..

Knock sensor will change spark timing.

CPS(cam sensor) is for sequential fuel injection for the most part.

87, 89, 91, 93 octane have the same "power" per ounce or gallon

Oct = 8
Octane number is the amount of complete or "full" C8-H18 carbon molecules in a volume of fuel.
A full 8 carbon chain is harder to ignite when heated.
Incomplete carbon chains ignite easier when heated.

But the total carbon molecules(power) in the volume is the same, regardless of the number of Octane molecules.

Higher compression engines have more power because of the higher compression, not because they run 93 octane.
They have to run 93 octane because they are higher compression engines.

While there are many stories about more power with higher octane, the physics doesn't support it.
Unless engine has knock sensor or another method to detect octane and run engine more aggressively, like a 93 octane chip :)

Yes, I know, that is why there couldn't be a power difference between 87oct and 89oct, or 93oct.

But............87oct may have 10% ethanol, 89oct 5% or less, in that case there would be a power difference but it would be marginal, maybe perceptible but not "big".

More likely scenario because of the previous pinging, and noticeable power difference between 87 and 89oct, is that you are getting pre-detonation with 87oct but not perceptible enough to hear it, but enough to rob some power.
With 89oct it is gone so more power

Thanks Ron I should have worded things better with the power so here goes...freeway speed 65 cruise control on 89 oct, hit incline everything ok...with 87 oct same road/speed trans will shift down a gear..that's it.. our 87 gas here in Cali is only good for lawn mowers lol...
