Play in the accelerator

How much play should there be in the accelerator? I can lift my pedal a good inch and a half off the floor... Maybe time for a new throttle spring?

I took zip ties and placed them over the braided cable, that is infront of the pedal. Many people have done this and im sure a couple could get some pics. it actually makes a big difference. good luck

Over the braided cable? I assume you mean looping them so it draws the cable tighter?

Edit: Damn, I need an avatar/sig...

yeah loop them, like place them around the cable part between the pedal and the stop at the end of the cable. it took me like three.

DON'T PUT ON TOO MANY.

That spring needs to be there. If you take up too much slack you will stress your cable at WOT.

Try this test. Get someone to put your pedal to the floor. If you can still move your throttle linkage arm (on the throttle body) to open the throttle more, then you need the zip ties. If you CAN'T -- then your throttle is wide open and the zip ties are a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME, no matter what anyone tells you about "throttle response" and all that crap. If your throttle opens all the way, there is no excess in your cable.

Lousy picture (blurred) here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ad.php?t=26881

But you can see the black zip tie at the end of the green cushion on the spring near the top of the linkage, kinda'...

Another page on it, no pics, from Rogue's site:
http://rogueperformance.com/ElectricalMods.html#b

If you screw it up and take out too much slack, you can end up with these symptoms:

https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ead.php?t=3552

Really, you should be able to figure it out from there.
