possable vaccum leak or sugguestions?

2001 excape. runs shitty when it is cold. will not idle very good. will drop so low itll stall or just rumble and sputter. i cleaned the throttle body and IAC valve helped a lil but not much. i suspect a vacuum leak but dont no how to safely check for it. also on my list is the ERG but idk how to check that ether. the history of this veichale is every time it rains or gets cold it does this but lately its been in all weather. usually it pops a code for a misfire. its been in the shop every year for a few now with the same prob. they change the coil and plug but no help. i think its a vacuum leak because when i seafoamed it. it blew smoke under the hood to. i could not see where it was coming from but when i did my ranger it only blew smoke out the exaughst but this thing was under the hood and the exausht. any help plz. this sight has helped alot with my ranger can you help with this to

spray a flammable cleaner or starting fluid around your vac system. if the engine revs then theres your leak. it'll take 1 or 2 cans sometimes.
