Ok I was wondering if someone can tell me how to find a vaccum leak. My brother has a 1996 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 engine in it. The CEL is on he had taken it to a mechanic and the code for vaccum leak came up and they searched for the leak but couldn't find it. I knew someone on here would know what you ould do to find it. Thanks in advance

 

You could listen with a mechanic stethoscope or a fuel line. If you are careful you can use brake or carb. cleaner and spray it around the engine where you think it is leaking. Just be careful around hot parts like the exhaust. The engine will speed up when you find the leak. It can't be too hard to find on a 2.2 4 cylinder. There is not much stuff there to leak.

 

Thanks for the help I'll tell my brother to try the brake or carb cleaner. I did tell me that the mechanic used a stethoscope and he couldn't find it.

 

just look at all the hoses. until you narrow your search.
