only thing you can really do it flush out the old fluid with some fresh synthetic atf fluid.

yes, the ford power steering pumps use atf fluid, do not put power steering fluid in it.

ehhhh... that might be why its going out cuz my idiotic dad thinks he knows everything about my truck cuz he owned a 1995 model 4x4 ranger that set fire. "it caught on fire" but besides the fact he thinks he knows everything so he put ryal purple full synthetic in my power steering after we flushed it im not sure if thats gonna be fine if yall think that will do then let me know cuz ill go get the right fluid tomorrow or just go ahead and buy a entirely brand new power steering pump for when mine finaly kills over and dies

the ford system calls for atf.

not to sound like an ***, but look in your owners manual, ford has been using atf fluid in their power steering systems for decades.

Yeah no in my truck (manual 4x4) my truck takes ATF in the steering pump, transmission, and transfer case. I carry 4 bottles of ATF and 4 bottles of just 5w-30.

Mine is going out to. I'm going to research how much it would be to convert to manual steering. Its way to much to get one of those after market pumps. Plus when your driving manual steering isn't that bad, just when you in a parking lot but I'm sure I'd get use to it.
