flowmaster 40

On these trucks......they all pretty much sound the same. It's when you add two cylinders and a carburater is when they start changing sounds. MOST folks run a Delta Flow 40, as that's whats usually avaliable....I've ran a super40 and currently running an original 40....and the original 40 is slightly louder than the super 40. The delta flows, are quieter than the originals. One thing about the delta flow 40s, they have ALOT more avaliable in/out/size combos.....2.25 in, dual 2 out. that sorta thing. One duals you can get in the super 40 is the 3 in/2.5 out.
Hoped i helped a little.....i know you have a 3.0, but just tryin' to help.

Thing is.....for what power we put out in our trucks, combined with displacement.....you really don't need 2.5. Heck, my 450hp 406ci chevy uses dual 2.5s. As my brother said above, I wish i went with 2.25 on mine. Lost some power w/ 2.5. The muffler...that's really no biggie what the sizes are, the shop can enlarge or use those transitions things to change the size. Like the Super 40 is only avaliable in 3 in/2.5 dual out.
I wouldn't say 2.5 sounds worse, just performs worse...and you honestly don't need pipe that big.
4.0 calls for 2.5 in/dual 2 out.....i'd do 2.25 in/dual 1.75 or 2 out for a 3.0L.

A Flowmaster Super 44 is the same as a Super 40, but in a smaller case.....more compact. 4x8 vs 5x10 cases. I had a Super 40 and loved it. I'm trying out an original 40. Both mufflers were used in different exhaust setups...so that changes it as well. On my 406ci chevy, the super 40 is pretty mellow at idle and cruising...then when you romp on it, its MEAN! The Original 40 on the same truck, is loud and beefy at idle, and when you romp on it, it's mean, even more meaner than the super 40. Hope i helped.

Big, Bigger, and Biggest.. from Origional to Super to 44... what do you want? We cant really describe it unless you tell us what your looking for...

Ive ran so many different mufflers just for 2 reasons......1. "I wonder what this sounds like on my truck". And 2. IT's cheap to swap mufflers. Okay....maybe not "cheap" but it's relatively cheap to swap out. $65 here, 5 months later $50 for a new one, 6 months later.....
I've had stock, Dynomax Ultra Flow Oval, Magnaflow, Cherry Bomb Glasspack, Flowmaster Super 40, and currently Flowmaster Original 40.
Pretty much, any Flowmaster 40 series all pretty much sound the same. Original 40 doesn't have the delta flow technology, and from my experience and alot of other peoples experieces, the delta flow makes it a little quieter. But it's got better flow than the Original. And the Deltas are better in the interior resonance department.
