It is a sad day

Well, ladies and gentlemen it's time for a big announcement. After dealing with oil pressure issues in my 2.9 L for almost two years, I've become discouraged. I figure it's about time for an engine rebuild. Can't swap any other motor into because I want the odometer to be the original number. I'm going to somehow find a way to scrap up the money to have it rebuilt. I figure it would be better for the truck and motor in the long run anyway. Any idea how much that's gonna cost me?

That makes no sense to me, what does dropping in another 2.9 have to do with the odometer ?

I want the mileage to match up with the motor in the truck.

I won't if you rebuild engine, lol, engine would be a 0 miles

A full rebuild kit with new pistons runs about $350-$400, it you are doing it yourself

Rebuilt heads about $250 each, so $500
So you could DIY it for about $900-$1,200

Call local machine shop(s) to get a price on rebuilding Ford 2.9l OHV, you want an 1989-1992 rebuild, regardless of your Rangers year
They need to supply the parts, i.e. the rebuild kit
I would expect this to be $1,800-$2,200 for complete long block with new oil pump and heads

The heads are new. I replaced them a while back when the old ones cracked (go figure). But thank you for your help. I'd do it myself but Jesus I'm no mechanic. If I tried it'd never go back together ever again lol
