2004 V6 3.0L Edge - Going to remove most rearward catalytic converter

I am looking for some advice on removing my most rearward catalytic converter on my 2004 Ranger Edge. It is the 3.0L model.

The converter does not have an o2 sensor after it, so removing this converter will only decrease backpressure as the ECU has no way of knowing the converter is gone.

The problem is I have been unable to find a "testpipe" for sale that will bold on directly in place of the factory converter (the most rearward one)

I have been able to visually see 3 converters by crawling under the truck. I have heard rumors that there are actually 5, but I havent looked hard enough near the manifold to see the others. (if they actually exist)

On a side note: my other vehicle has the underbody catalytic converter removed and this has much increased the performance of the vehicle. It is a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (2006) and I am very happy with the results of removing it. This converter does have an o2 sensor rearward of the converter but I used 2 spark-plug defoulers to create a spacer and pull it out of the exhaust flow somewhat. This prevented the ECU from understanding that the converter is missing: Hence I can pass emissions (electronic test for 2006 MY in the USA.)

Any advice would be appreciated: I have already made my decision that the converter is coming off, I am not looking for advice if I "should" take it off. It is just a matter of HOW do I do it in an easy matter without fabrication of custom parts. I am looking for an aftermarket midpipe as I was able to purchase with my EVO

Yikes, copy and pasting questions from one forum to another....

Anywho, doubt it is a "cat" if there is not a downstream sensor, maybe post a picture?

you cant find a test pipe cause there illeagle to make and sell DUH!
Actually, your wrong - the sale of testpipes is perfectly legal for off-road applications... hence why it was very easy to find one for sale from many websites for my lancer evolution. I'm sure there are many "off road" applications for our trucks.

I also.. WILL gain from reduced back pressure. I intend on getting the truck dyno-tuned for maximum efficiency. This is what I do with my car after each change of anything on the vehicle that effects how it will run. Simply taking off a cat without optimizing the ecu is doing half of the job.

You can use spark plug defoulers to space the sensor out of the flow. This worked great on my EVO. I'll try and take a picture tonight.

I just took some pics under the car and the truck... man it is COLD tonight in Chicago...

Here are photos I took of the underbody of my EVO showing how I successfully removed the CAT and I do NOT get a "check engine light" or throw a code. I was laying on the ground to take these pictures, please excuse if they are not the best. The vehicle WILL pass emissions because the car is ODBII (electrical connector test only)

Here is a picture from underneath the 2004 Ranger. This is the converter I want to remove.

As far as this discussion is considered both vehicles are considered driven "off road" only.

I seriously hope you are joking.
Aside from that, you arn't going to feel a damn thing from such a small displacement engine, maybe if it was a 5.7 or something.
It might sound a little louder, which must mean it's higher performance.

I don't think anyone sells one, maybe you can go to a exhaust shop and get them to weld you one up.

Here's one that was for sale, I don't know if it still is but this eliminates that 3rd cat. I just took mine off and drove a pry-bar through it and hollowed it out.

I don't think it ever got sold but I think that's what you're looking for.
