start, idles and then dies out and doesnt want to start
So im having a problem with my 99 3.0 flex fuel ranger, at first it didmt like to stay running unless i was constantly in the throttle. At red lights i had to keep it at about 2000 rpms and i was just winging it. Then another problem started last week. It will start fine and idle but if i let it idle to long it with shut off. I did a fuel pressure test today and it jumped around a bit, went from 18 psi, died, next start 29 psi, died. Now i can even drive around the block without it dying.so im wondering if i should bite the bullet and put a new fuel pump in or check smething else first. Thank you in advance for any help.

Fuel filter FIRST, you may still need to replace fuel pump but always fuel filter first
1999 Ranger(1998 and up) should run 55-65psi fuel pressure at the engine
1997 and earlier ran 30-40psi
So yours is very very low
