Tensioner Pulley?

The small pulley sorta in the middle of the egine wobbles back and forth with my hand when i move it. Is it supposed to do that? I know it makes this awful squealing noise when i start up and squeaks while running.

Mine, I need a 15mm and a breaker bar to move. I can't even budge it with my hand. From what I've heard, it's an inexpensive part at autozone/peboys/etc

It's a common failure. If it's wobbling and noisy, it may be ready to go. I'd replace it.

I would replace it if it were my truck.

Too much $$. Should be less than $20 for a pulley. Shop around by phone.

$6.99 for a 6203 bearing that goes in either pulley. 2 appropriate size sockets and a couple taps with a hammer, viola....bearing out, then tap the new one in. Just note how deep the original was set and match the socket diameter to the outer race.

Fun times. I even disassemble, clean and grease those bearings occasionally. I'm currently evaluating a $16.99 bearing from NAPA (Napa part number 6203-2RSJ) on my idler pulley to see if it's worth the price for longevity. My tensioner has whatever bearing came in the new pulley as the "control".

BTW, John, I used to live in Spotsy. I'll be up there Sunday, visiting my sons.

took it to the dealership and they put in a starter motor said the old one wasnt pulling whatever retracting it back. but they didnt fix the noise where it sounds like a bird driving down the road. also right after the motor turns over now there is this spinning sound like the starter keeps going for like a half second after it starts. it never done that before either. so now i got to go back monday and take it back in and tell them that the starter motor they put in is bad and i still have the noise they didnt fix from the first time i took it there. damn i hate dealing with idiot stealerships. at least it is under warranty tho.
