tensioner pulley

is the tensioner pulley suppose to spin ? im getting a squelling noise and have removed the glaze from the idler and with the engine running it looks as if the pulley is not moving unless its a illusion
BTW it's a new belt and i scuffed the surface of the belt with a small wire brush as i did on the idler.

Well i put a paint mark on the tensioner and it is spinning, so if it dosn't go away with some miles put on it im going to try the goodyear gatorback belt, unless the tensioner is losing it's tension

i have the squeal when I start up. It use to just be when rather cold out, but now it's daily. I've gone to Ford 3 times about it, last time a service advisor heard it, but when left with them they can't duplicate the problem. I was going to take her in today because of the squeal. I had to run to my boss' house for something and in the time it took me to get down there and into work the squeal lessened. When I got into my truck after dropping what was needed off the squeal had stopped. It's REALLY freak'n annoying and damn embarrassing. WTF, Ford just lost 1.2B in the first quarter. Wonder if it'll be possible to get any warranty work now.

EDIT: my squeal is most evident between 1.5-2.5 rpms, though I can hear it "ticking" at idle.

4X2XLT, yes at low rpm's at idle for a few seconds, pulling away from a stop, maybe up to 25 mph, ok on the highway.
SniperSmurf, yes it has got to be the most annoying sound and i agree it's embarrasing, sounds like somthing/s dying un there
Iv scuffed the two idler pulleys as best i can next is to try another new belt Gatorback this time, currently using a Gates.

I just had my belt replaced today. I had to be a major dick to the guy at the Berge ford but they finally listened to it. My AC compessor seal was leaking oil making it squeek now and again. It was very embarrasing too, it would do it near old junk cars that were perfectly quite.

i think i figured mine out... the belt i used to replace my worn out belt was .3 inches to big so im thinking that when it would get wet it would just cause it to rub...
