A few Technical 3.0 questions
Hey everyone, I may be doing a swap for my current car for a 2005 ford ranger edge 3.0 2wd. It seems like a good deal so i thought I'd give it a go.
Do the edges come with trac-loc? or is that an option?
what's the reliability generally like for a 3.0?
i generally get about 500kms (312miles) for about 70 liters of fuel (18.5 gallons) with my current car with about 65% city and 35% highway. How does this compare to a 3.0 2wd?
any help would be appreciated! thanks!

My 03 came with an L/S rear. Check or take a pic of the door jam sticker and post it here and we can tell you what you have.
They are a tough little engine but have little gain in power over the 4 cyl , and the fuel consumption of a 4.0.
I used to get about 25 mpg highway until ethanol was added to the fuel. Now down to 17.5.

i did a little research on axle codes for the ranger, i wrote down the codes for lsds of both 7.5 and 8.8 rear ends because i don't know which one it comes with. i have R5 R6 R7 AND F4 F6 AND F7. That's kinda strange power to fuel economy spread, no wonder they discontinued that engine! Not much of a gain over my 2v 4.6 now. Thanks alot!
