Truck wont start /w Jetchip
Truck wont start /w Jetchip
Ok so I got a free Jetchip from Tim in the mail. I follow all the instructions to install. clean off the connectors really well and put it all back together. Go to start it.. nothing. It just clicks the first and second time if I remember, then it was down to nothing. Ive tried it without the chip and the same thing. Ive tried disconnecting the battery for like 10-15mins... and still nothing. All the cab lights, electrical, and other stuff work fine. The truck just wont fire up. The fuel pump is working too so its not that. Also I went out tonight to try it again and noticed that the Theft light on the dash is on and not blinking as usual. So could that be a reason why its locking up? Ive read it locks up the starter so that could explain it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
I had the jet programmer that plugs into the OBD II port. Let me tell you Jet products suck ***. That jet programmer ****ed my computer up 3 times. I bet that what it has done to yours to. I had to pay $85 three times to go get the computer reflashed. I would send it back to them and get your money back.
Does the jet chips for the older trucks suck? I wana get 1 for my 93 i need something for HP gains so i can at least make it up a hill. I also like to tow my 4wheeler but it kills the truck so i dont go riding much.
Any time that you go aftermarket and try to improve performance you are taking a risk, believe it or not the people that design and build autos are pretty smart as to how to build their products, No one states the engine size in any of these trucks, if we are dealing with 4 cylinders i can see where power issues might come up but the 6 cylinders should have enough power to do most jobs, if not there is some other issue at play. Most of the after market products are just creating a hole in your pocket for money to flow thru. If you really need more power you would be money ahead just trading up to a bigger truck. A standard transmission will take more power better than an automatic, if you increase the power to the automatic you will probably be replacing it soon after should you actually gain performance. Thinking that you are more capable than an auto engineer of building a drive train is a fools concept.
I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM EXACTLY! I called ford and this is what they told me: the theft light is telling you that you have engaged the theft system. It will lock down the vehicle completely and not allow it to turn over. This is done primarily by playing with the electrical system without taking the negative battery terminal off first. It often disengages after 15 mins, if not you have to tow it somewhere to get it reflashed
yes. there was a thread a while back where someone actually dyno tested a jet chip, and they lost hp.

This post is mostly a pile of

Gee i thought this was a group of grown men on this site but i guess there are some adolescents as well. It is evident that your education level is lacking as i don't think you really even read the post. If it werent for the stated truck ownership indicating at least 16 years of age i would think you are just another 12 year old playing on your daddy's computer.

If you knew anything, you'd realise that the engineers have a balancing act when building and tuning cars/trucks. The ecu/pcm controls the automatic transmisson on newer cars. That means, with a simple tune, you can change the way the truck shifts.
The postings in this stream are about chips in the ignition systems and the MANY false products that are out there, Most of which end up screwing your truck up. there are no apparent posts to tranny shifting, changing your shift points can help but it can cause an older transmission to pretty much gut themselves. But apparently you two are the resident Gay truckers on here as most of your remarks are gay or *** related. You both sound very mature, Your Moms must be so Proud

Second, automotive engineers design vehicles these days for longevity, plain and simple. To avoid warranty claims. Using a tuner, changing your exhaust to a more free flowing design, opening up the intake, are just some of the mods that don't hurt any of the vehicles on this site. Most get better performance and better mileage without vehicle longevity being affected in the least. If the vehicles lifespan is affected by those mods it's because the owner likes to stomp on the skinny pedal more after the newly discovered power from those mods.
Money flowing through our pockets? What rock have you been living under? Several of the modifications on this site are proven to add power and have been very reliable. A tuner being one of them... Just sayin.....
As for building a drivetrain, that depends of your definition of building. Some members here choose to use old, high mileage transfer cases on their almost new trucks simply because the manufacturer switched to an electronic design for ease of use for the average idiot buying these vehicles. But "people in the know" as a lot of the members here actually are, know that the manual transfer case design is much more reliable than the electronic crap that Ford decided to go with. Many other members have totally swapped their drivetrains to V8 powerplants, with multiple trannsmission options, transfer cases of every concievable size and design, and they perform better and last longer than anything stock that came on these trucks. If they wanna spend money and "trade up" as you stated then sure, they could if they wanted to jump feet first into debt on a new full size, that still may break almost immediately, where as their home built bogger/playtoy (that's likely paid off) may not if it's built right.
As for talking about any of our moms. I can probably speak for a few here when I tell you to suck it. To think, you're telling us we're immature and then you post comments like that.. lmao
GTFO of here with your oh so reasonable mentality and completely false assumptions. don't forget the completely wrong lines of thinking. No one cares. If you're gonna stay then try posting about something you actually know about.

^^x2. I lol'd too when he talked about maturity, then clearly started with personal attacks first.
what?

No, it really wouldn't. There is a reason all the high hp cars run auto's
you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Well Poindexter it appears you have met the Gay Rangers, Best thing to do is ignore them they are little boys still living with Mommy and Daddy so they don't pay for their mistakes Daddy does. They have a reputation to uphold as the arrogant idiots of the ranger forums.
but back to the subject. if you get a tuner that knows what they are doing, you will never put the motor in harms way. If anything, it will even make it run more efficiently. But, clearly, you are ignorant.

blastingcaps=poindexterscat clearly. Same typing patterns, both new users. Plus, why would a new user only comment on this thread only. makes no sense. Also, when blastingscaps logged out, poindexterscat immediately logged in. lol

Not to mention the fact that a new user probably wouldn't pick this STREAM to make his/her first post in. Poindexterscat has a fake newb!!
