Well, I'm not sure if this is the right section or not but... here it goes.

On my Ranger when I put it into OD it whines. It only whines when I give it gas, even if I barley give it any. If it's at a constant speed or slowing down it doesn't do it. I'm not sure what it is but I'd say it has something to do with the tranny. Any imput?

 

No on knows? I think this probably should have been in the tranny section though... Also, sometimes in the morning when I put it in reverse it makes a grinding sound, I can also feel it in the shifter, What's up with that?

 

my truck made a whining sound while taking off as well but when i put my 4.56s in it all went away.

 

I have the same problem just recently. Mine happens when I start off in 1st gear (auto tranny) and then goes away once it gets to secaond. It sounds like that I have 4 wheel drive. It might happen to do with my spark plugs and wires, because I was only able to change 3 of of them out.

 

could be your rear end too.....that would be my best guess on the whining, im not sure about the grinding

 

i would guess your synchros in the tranny may be on the way out

 

mine is the same way,goes into gear hard.
