What is this?

Anyone know what this is [item red arrow pointing to]?
The end pops into a hole in the top of the valve cover. It has a rubberized end that serves as a seal. The issues is it keeps popping up out of the hole. I would like to replace it with one that doesn't. Ford says the part is not sold separately from the whole section that leads to the air intake hose. I'd be happen to find the elbow part only from whomever without having to purchase the whole section.

Thanks for any help.

I think it's just the crank case vent valve. It relieves pressure an gases caused but any combustion engine an rends the air back into the intake to try an burn any gases or fuel to help with emissions. u can get another one at the junk yard. The Taurus 3.0 is the same so u could get one from them also. It also keeps u from blowing a valve cover gasket an getting oil leaks. Could also prob save u from blowing a head gasket after awile if it wasn't able to vent properly!! If I'm wrong or anyone else can give more info, that would be great! Hope this helps. U could prob use some silicone to kinda hold so it doesn't pop out anymore or possible a flexible glue. Just NOT super glue. Super glue an rubber aren't the best of friends!! Lol!

PCV valve: positive crankcase ventilation . A tiny check valve. Hold it like a tiny cocktail shaker, should rattle back and forth (jiggle pin valve). You _could_ try blowing thru it , (if you like the taste of old motor oil). If is a mild press fit & checks OK, make sure the hose is clear.

Cheap $ at most parts stores.

I have 5 different parts store franchises in my area...none have the part & say they have never had anyone ask for one before. Both the Ford & Lincoln/Mercury dealerships do not stock the part and both say they have never had anyone ask for one. Priced at the dealerships for just over $60 and only sold as one piece. I have got to check the junk yards.

Thanks for the heads up guys!

Correction. The red arrow in this picture shows an elbow in the Crankcase Ventilation Tube assembly that channels filtered air from the air cleaner intake duct to enter the crankcase when it is under vacuum.

The arrowed part is NOT the PCV valve which is also shown as base part number 6A666.
