What does the coolant temperature sender screw into?

1999 Ford Ranger 3.0L V-6 Flex Fuel

I have a hole in my cooling system that I can see, but do not know what to call the part that has the hole. It's a metal part that the temperature sending unit screws into. A hose leads from the bottom of it to the bottom of the engine block. I have managed to find a variety of forum threads and am pretty sure I've managed to identify the temperature sending unit (which supplies the reading for the in-dash temperature gauge) correctly, but haven't managed to find the name of the part with the hole. Can anyone tell me what part it is?

Sorry for just the links and no description, I was in the middle of working on my own truck and wanted to hurry back out.

Hope they both helped.
