Why Did I even Bother??? (No Really, stop laughing!!)

:dunce: :headache: :15: :blackeye:

WHY.. WHY.. WHY..??

Okay, so I decided that I had to find out for myself that the Tornado is a useless hunk of tin scrap... and it cost me a TPS and a can of touch-up paint when the truck stalled and I hit a lightpole base....

So heres what happend. The damn thing must have slid inside the airtube by the Throttle body, and it blocked so much air that I stalled out while I was in reverse and since the truck is pretty hard to steer while in reverse and no engine running and the inital shock of stalling and automatic hadn't set in I backed into a light pole.. :blackeye: Plus shortly after putting it in, out of the blue my TPS crapped out and the truck ran poorly.

I took the Tornado out, changed the TPS and low and behold... Gas milege went up, power came back and no more stalling... Humm!! TAKE MY ADVICE!!! THE TORNADO / TURBONATOR / VORTEX GENERATOR / or anything else that claims it makes a swirling air effect is only going to make your truck swirl arround the bowl and down the hole!!

Has anyone else tried this thing and had such disasterous results??

FauX 09-18-2005 12:13 AM

Damn man, I heard they sucked a long time ago. At least you got out of it safely man.
Thanks for the heads up

yah...tornado=crap

04lvl2 09-18-2005 12:17 AM

oh my god guys....
I've got an electric supercharger on my Cool air intake (really) :)

TippnOver 09-18-2005 12:23 AM

....so you mean u jacked a coolin fan from a PC and put it in u're airbox?

FauX 09-18-2005 12:25 AM

Nope, My Cold Air Intake has an Electric Supercharger hooked to it :). Hush, These things are still quiet

WTF....

does it actually work for ya?

see, the problen with that is, imo, that its not really liked to a pulley or even the engine CPU...just the battery...so, it's tryin to force the same amount of air into the engine supposedly at idle, as it would be WOT....which doesnt make sense at all....

superchargers are linked to the pulleys....thas how it controls the amount of boost to give....so u're basically just fanning the air coming in the intake....

SuperGildo@RRP 09-18-2005 12:31 AM

Im sorry but I am laughing at you!!! I feel bad for you but thats a pretty damn funny story!!

LMAO

No, a supercharger is forced Air INduction. It runs on pulleys yes, that's why you get a ton more hp then you do with this. This is the same Concept, Forced Air induction. It forces more air into your tube but it also creates the Vortex. The vortex is sucking more air into the motor creating more hp.
Plus you get the cool supercharger Whisle :smirk:

TippnOver 09-18-2005 12:52 AM

yeah..but like i said...the fan only runs at one speed...so u're not really getting a good forced induction at WOT....or your getting too much air, which is inturn wasted at idle...

because its 2:55 AM, i'm wired on caffeine, and i'm waitin for my buzz to go away...

so if i argue a lot, and get all excited and riled up, it'll all work outta my system faster...

This topic is funny as hell

Sychodemeanor 09-18-2005 02:19 AM

I'm just upset that someone else shares my computer fan in the intake idea...I'm workin on my patent tho so don't try and produce none of them :tired:

OMFG!!!!!!

Well, today I had some guy come into my store and tell me that he had a (TORE-AH-NAD-OH) Air management setup in his Tundra.. I tried not to laugh having been a victim of this travisty...

At least I saw the light when it was blinding me in the face, but this dude actualy said to me;

"It works great, I get such better off the line power and It really makes a differance in the corners. :drive: The only thing is I haven't oiled it since I put it in so I think I may need to check that cause it isn't putting out like it used to..."

He then proceded to ask me if we carried the Oil for that....

HOW DO YOU RESPOND TO THAT and STILL KEEP YOUR JOB???

D. 09-19-2005 01:48 AM

I've actually ( believe it or not ) seen an electric supercharger that runs off the ignition system. It wasn't on a vehical ( it was actually on one of those shade-tree type shows ) and it did yield some minor gains ( liek 20hp at the wheels on some riced out 4 banger ). It was VERY expensive due to all the electronics needed for the ignition/controller motors.

I typed it in at google and they make them for us 4-cyl people :smirk:

and right now I've settled for one of those Fake turbos(just makes the cool sound, and when you change gears it makes the blowoff sound  ); its like a lil clip thing in the exhaust.....$10

FauX 09-19-2005 04:00 PM

yea i've seen those, If you decide to get one make sure that you have a cool air intake, It won't hook up to your stock.
