10 speed tranny
When they came out with the new Ranger in 2019, only transmission available to us in North America
Replace your filter and fluid
I bought a 2021 Ranger new. We replaced the transmission fluid and filter at 60K. It was quite dirty! Fluid was dark, but no out of the ordinary metal in fluid. We installed a PPG aluminum deep pan. This holds an extra 1.5 Qt of transmission fluid. Also has a drain plug. IMHO 60K is too many miles between fluid and filter changes. Based on fluid condition, I’ll probably replace fluid at 80K. And fluid and filter again at 100K
That 10-speed transmission is actually a joint design by Ford and GM, info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford%E...c_transmission
1st gear and Reverse are 4.6 ratio which is not normally used to get moving forward, so it starts off in 2nd gear, then 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 which has the 1:1 ratio
8, 9 and 10 are OverDrive ratios, so 3 ODs
First used in 2017 Fords, and as said 2019-2024 Rangers
So it has 7 years under its belt, and Ford hasn't dropped it yet, lol, so must not being getting too many warranty repairs
