Have 93 ranger 3.0 4x4 was told it needs heads. Have found 3.0 from 05 escape 3.0 was wondering if heads will interchange

No, they for sure will NOT fit, the Escape only used the 3.0l DOHC Duratec engine, also 2.0l and 2.3l 4cyls

You need heads for the 3.0l OHV Vulcan engine, this was used in Rangers, Mazda B3000, and Taurus/Sables, but Taurus/Sables did use BOTH Vulcan and Duratec 3.0ls in some years so heads up

Heads from any year can be used, but the 2004-2006 heads could have bad valve seats so avoid those years
