Dash swap

I'm just wondering if the dash out of a 2004 ranger will fit a 2001?

Welcome to the forum

It will physically "fit" but the cluster won't work, 1995 thru 2003 used analog clusters and wiring, 2004-2011 changed to Digital Clusters(HEC) so much different wiring, incompatible wiring

Also the HEC clusters(2004-2011) used a micro-chip that was "married" to the engine computer, so these clusters couldn't be swapped around to lower the odometer miles shown

I'm just looking to use it for for parts. I bought the entire dash and everything mounted in it for cheap, figured I could use it for parts then sell the cluster and stuff I dont need. From what I could tell a lot of stuff will line up and work, plug and llay as some would say. Your right about that cluster set, that will be up for resale.

Check to see if there are even mounting points for the fuse box in the 2004+ dash. Ford moved the in-cab fuse box to the passenger kick panel in 2004.

Based on my experience pulling these trucks apart, the bare dash will likely swap over, BUT the part of me that knows Ford and even engineers in general KNOWS that something somewhere is different.

Alright all just wanted to do an update. Everything that was previously posted is correct. The only thing that wouldn't swap over to the 2001 I have from the 2004 dash was the cluster due to the digital odometer. I got lucky amd the fuse panel was even on the same side as my 01. Thanks for the info folks it was well appreciated.
