Key fob question

I have a 2021 Ranger I got in September. I had ordered it back in June and was told probably wouldn’t get it till December. I was thrilled when it came in in September. I just started getting the “Key Fob not detected” message when the passenger front door opens? Anyone know why that would be? Fob is clearly in the truck🤷. I haven’t had the chance to try the other Fob yet.

Battery in Fob?

If you leave the new Keyless ignition Fobs in or near the vehicle it has to "ping"/respond to the vehicle 24/7 so battery doesn't last as long

On the old fobs the battery in the fob was only used to lock or unlock, to transmit only when a button was pressed

With keyless ignition the vehicle asks "are you near by?" all the time, and Fob has to answer "yes I am" if it gets the "are you near by?" message, so these Fobs have to have a Transmitter and Receiver

Keyless ignition fob batteries normally only last 2 to 3 years, but less if Fob is left in or near the vehicle
Old fob batteries lasted 5-6+ years depending on use

Thanks. I’ll check the battery. I didn’t think it would be that since it’s only 3 months old, but I’ll give it a try.

Might not be but its something you don't have to take it to Ford to try, lol

And do a test, to see if fob is being stored too close to vehicle
Leave vehicle unlocked
Take fob into the house and put it where you normally do
Go back out and try to start vehicle
If you can its too close
