I bought a 24 a few months ago to keep at my cabin when I am up there. I have keypads to open door on my F150's for several years and am in a bad habit of leaving the keys in the cab and locking it up. Also I have friends that will get my truck and leave it at the airport for me. I would like a small key to only unlock the door that I can put in one of those magnetic hiding boxes. I don't want to leave one with a fob as it will get wet and its also too big for one of those boxes. I see some smaller keys on Ebay that look like the same blank as my key, would that work? Will a locksmith be able to cut that key? Do I need a code? The truck is 700 miles away so I can't look for a code that I saw others speaking about on an additional key that will start the truck. Thank you for any advise! (I did try and search for this with no luck)

 

Just about any hardware or home improvement store that has a key machine can cut a 'service' key.

Just do not use the key to try to start the vehicle as the PATS it will consider it a theft attempt and keep a chipped key from starting it for 1 to 1.5 hours.
