I have 2020 Ranger xlt 4x2. Wanting to know if I can comfortably fit 285/70r18 all terrain tires if I installed ford's leveling kit. Mainly just for cosmetic reasons. What is biggest tire size that could fit without modifications. 18in wheels. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Wheel diameter doesn't matter, tire diameter does(well smaller diameter wheels may not fit over brake calipers, lol)
Look at Fords max diameter tire that came on stock Ranger for your year and model, that would be max diameter, you can probably go an inch larger safely
285/70r18 is 33.7" in diameter
Look here for stock tire sizes: https://tiresize.com/tires/Ford/Ranger/2020/
Looks like 30.7" is the largest diameter, so simple answer is no, 33.7" would rub with stock suspension
The rear is not the issue, the front tires when turning would rub
You can turn front wheels until they are at their closest distance from fenders and frame, measure it, that will give you an idea of the clearance available, but thats with "at rest suspension" bumps in the road cause the tires and body to change positions relative to each other................................

2020 Ranger use -55mm offset wheels, that's about -2.2"
I assume you mean you want wheel hub mount to be 0 inches difference from inside rim so wheels would stick out 2.2" farther
Yes, no reason you couldn't do that, need an alignment after, of course
Some areas do have Laws about tires being Completely covered by a fender, so check that, it would mean you would have to add fender flares
And because tires are inside the fenders now the suspension travel often allows the tire to go up higher than the cut out in fender
If tire is now sticking out farther......................then it could hit the fender on a bump
