Hey all, I've got a 2002 Ranger, 4.0L 4x4. Searching the web and forums I can't find ANY companies that produce bolt on ditch light brackets for the 1ST, 2ND, or 3RD gen rangers. Anyone have any idea why?
Why would you, or any one else, need a light there?
Light bar on the cab for off-road I can see, or driving lights in front of the grill
Just above the hood seems no better than the head lights?
Only 6-8" higher
Hey partner. I agree! Ditch lights pointing straight forward are almost useless when they're actually being used. Ditch lights are mainly used at a 45° angle facing the sides of the truck. I keep ny hardware justttt tight enough that i can swivel the light with my hands. I also have a pair of 90° reflect pods which cast straight out to the sides. This illuminates the pitch black area located on the sides of your mirrors or fenders helping you see "ditches" on the sides of the trail. Unless you have aux lighting installed in your mirrors or youre holding a flashlight out of your window, ditch lights turned slightly outward do a great deal of justice in this sense. Also, Living in upstate New York where we see heavy snowstorms, having the ditch lights turned on during heavy snowfall give other drivers great illumination of your presence in poor quality conditions and from a higher vantage point. Besides the practical reasons, I think they look great cosmetically as well.
