My truck doesnt leak anymore but it will not cool itself off! It’s driving me crazy. I think its the sensor not working and telling the car to not cool down? What can cause this? Did i connect the wrong sensors? Or not connect them right? The radiator fan is spinning

When engine is cold turn on the key leave engine off
What does the temp gauge show?

Should be on C of course, if it goes up then yes wires are wrong or sender is
You have a 5volt ECT sensor on the thermostat housing, only used by the engine computer, green and grey wires
And a 12volt Temp Sender on the same housing, only used by dash board temp gauge, red and black wires

They look the same but should have different connectors

When you installed the new thermostat the SPRING side goes down into the housing, that's usually the only way it will fit

Look at the fan belt on the fan pulley(water pump pulley) it should Match the pulley
These types of fan belts have a smooth side and a ridge side
If a pulley is smooth the smooth side of the belt should be on it
If a pulley has ridges then the ridge side of the belt should be on it

If you reverse it then fan and water pump spin backwards, so limited or no cooling

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes noticed that the temperature is warmed up way too early. Also I think my truck isn’t overheating at all. I bought a IR temp gun and checked engine temp and I’m pretty sure it was mostly 180-190ish. Though its hard to find a spot for a good reading because there is so much stuff over and around the engine.

What would be causing the sensor to read high?

what is the difference between the 2 sensors besides one being for ECU and one dashboard?

Did I somehow wire the dashboard one for the ECU and the ECU sensor for the dash?
