1995 Ranger Splash 4.0 2WD oil pan gasket

Hi guys, I hope all is well and staying safe.

I am in the middle of a trans swap as the original 4R55E went out a few weeks ago with 200+K miles and just waiting on the re-manufactured unit. I've had an oil leak for a while and decided to get a new rear main seal and oil pan gasket. Seems the oil pan was leaking and not the main seal but since I was going to be under there I would just change them out. I've unbolted the motor from the mounts, so can I just lift it up enough with my hoist to remove the oil pan completely? I've got the genuine Ford main seal and a Felpro pan gasket. For the pan gasket, is RTV on any areas recommended? I've also got an Enginetech expansion plug set which I got just in case.

Thanks

The instructions from Fel-Pro on my 3 litre for the oil pan gasket said to install it dry, so I'm assuming it's the same for yours.
The mating surfaces have to be void of all oil.
The only place where I used a very small amount is where the timing cover met the block _ it was just to fill any gap where the two meet.
If there are any joints like that on the 4 litre, then it should be used there, but just enough to get the job done.

Is 62-88 inch lbs the correct torque value and I've found a couple different sequences. Anyone have the correct specs?

Happy New Year guys!

Just getting back at this and will hopefully have the trans in soon. This Felpro oil pan gasket seems right but it doesn't fit down flat on the pan to the rear, I guess this is because some of the wedge seal has to go up in the grooves of the block? I would like to know if its fine to use the Felpro gasket or should I get the genuine one from Ford? I won't know if everything is sealed until all is back together and would hate to have to pull it apart again for a leak. Let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks

I've installed the oil pan with the Felpro gasket and it went pretty good. I used some permatex high tack gasket sealant in a few areas to hold it up in place while I put the pan in place. I also put some permatex ultra grey in the 6 areas recommended. Now that the pan is on, I placed a straight edge on the pan mounting pads where the trans bolts to and up on the block above the dowel pins and the thinnest feeler gauge I have is .008 and that won't go under the straight edge. Upon removal only 1 spacer was on the pan which was a yellow one which is a .009, should I put that back on the one side or get another 1 for the other side or should I not use any?

Thanks
