04 Ranger xlt 4x4

Truck will Rev up in drive but won't move, drop to 2 and it goes and around 20-25 mph I can put it in drive and it goes fine until I stop, then I have to put it in 2 again to get going. Any ideas?

Your vehicle has a 4.0L Engine & 5r55e Tranny.
Does the instrument cluster OD OFF lamp blink?
Have you scanned\read the Tranny TroubleCodes?

no od off blinking and it just happened so haven't had it scanned yet
