Not an easy swap.
Cost wise you would be better off to fix the 2.3l engine and sell that Ranger and use that money to buy a stock 4.0l Ranger.
Not sure why you would need different injectors, unless the 4.0l SOHC didn't come with them??
Getting upper and lower intake from an '08 4.0l would be best, wiring will matchup better
1997 to 2004 4.0l SOHC engines had faulty timing chain tensioners, so while the engine is out you should change all the timing chains, cassettes and tensioners, period, don't even bother with that '01 engine unless you do this.
Computer must match transmission, so computer from an automatic vehicle can't be used in a Manual trans vehicle and visa versa
2WD or 4WD don't matter to computer
When you change engine sizes the VIN will no longer match vehicle, so you often have to get a "Rebuilt" or "Salvaged" title

The timing sets are all done, and the wiring harness from the 08 and 01 have different injector plugs. And so far im into everything for the swap for abot 1000 bucks
