Ok so my Ranger has 157,682 miles on it and last winter i found my cylinder head was cracked and got it replayed and know i'm leaking oil and antifreeze out of the same side of the engine... would my head or gasket be bad again or is there something else i should check?

Welcome to the forum

Yes, the 4.0l OHV heads had a weak spot between valve seats and would crack there if over heated.

Odd for oil to leak from head gasket, valve cover gasket yes
There are 2 oil drains that pass thru the head but it is gravity fed, no pressure, so doesn't often leak.

Common coolant leak point on the 4.0l OHV engine is the intake manifold where it joins the head.
Aluminum intake and cast iron heads causes electrolysis so can eat away at the gasket and aluminum.

But yes, you could have failed head gasket on that same side, but I would look at it as an installation error.

Would the engine block be cracked? If so would it be worth the money to get it fixed

Never heard, or even read about, a 4.0l OHV with cracked block, so no that won't be it

same as me

I have a 2000 4.0 Ranger and one head developed an internal non fixable crack. My son found a place in West Virginia that sold brand new Australian heads with new valves, springs, completely assembled for a real low price. I bought 2, new head bolts and a gasket set and have put over 100K on them and am well pleased. The only problem was they included cork valve cover gaskets and they started leaking shortly. I had to pull the upper intake manifold to access the drivers side cover, and I installed Fel Pro composite gaskets, no more leaks. I wish I could remember the name of the place.
