2001 ford ranger xlt 4.0 4x4 low idle
I have a 2001 ford ranger xlt 4.0 4x4. At idle it is very low. almost to the point it wants to die.. Almost. It cranks over fine. Its trowing no codes. Accelorator is not sluggish and no lag. also fine at high speeds. ive changed IAC, and MAF, also air filter, Now Idont think that its the fuel pump due to all the oter things ive mentioned. I would just like to get some opinions b4 i go taking the bed off to takle that thing
I've read that the accelerator cable can stretch.
The fix I recall was to place a small tie wrap behind the bead at the throttle body end of the cable to take up the slack.
I always ask how many miles are on a poster's vehicle as it helps paint the picture.
Also, dosing the tank with Techron Concentrate before a stint of local driving might just help.

Georgeandkira: Throttle cable did have slack.I fixed that two zip ties fill the gap. Truck has a hundred and eighty thousand miles. I have not put any attitude in the tank. I am replacing rear leaf Springs, shackles and brackets today. So I'm removing the bed.I guess I'll take a look at the fuel pump. Think I might give the injectors a Cleaning two
