I need a some help. I have a 2001 ranger 4.0. I’ve been getting the same P0171 code for the past almost two years that’s been making the car fail smog. I’ve personally checked the hoses and took it to a mechanic. They supposably fixed the issue but CEL came back on with same code. Replaced MAF replaced EGR, replaced 2 O2 sensors already. Idk if having a K&N cold air intake could be the issue that is taking in too much air..? I don’t know any of you guys have had the same issues. Also on the pcv valve, it has the little “V” around it, one is connected the other one isn’t, any idea where they got plugged in to?
Try checking the PCV Hose+Tube assembly:
runs from the PCVValve on the rear of the left ValveCover to the right side of the INtakeManifold throat.
These 5/8" rubber elbows are notorious for cracking+leaking, causing p0171+p0174 TroubleCodes.
If you've not changed the PCVValve in the last 33kMiles, it's time for a new one.
