4.0 crate engine

Just a quick note for those wanting a little more oomph in their 4.0, Higgins Performance in Douglasville, GA, will build one up with a Comp Cams 270H for about $5300. They did a dyno on my stock '98 Ranger with a Vortech V2 supercharger about 10 years ago and now it's time to change it out. I think this is the way for me to go.

Thought about a 5.0, but, even stock, the 4.0 with the supercharger is a blast to drive. Having a blower will spoil you in a heartbeat

You're gonna spend $5300 on a V6? Lol I spent a grand less and I have a professionally built 347 Stroker.

If you have an 8.8 rear end, you don't need to change it out regardless of if you get a 4.0 or 5.0. If you have a 7.5, you need to change it out for an 8.8 for either motor. It's much stronger.

For the trans, you'll need to swap if you get a 5.0. Won't have to swap with the S/C 4.0, but like I said, you may want to consider beefing it up some depending on what kind of power it's putting out.
