I have a 94 Ranger with a 4.0L motor that also has blown head gasket(s). I was told I could swap motors with an Explorer so I purchased a 4.0L motor out of a 1992 Explorer. I have noticed a couple differences in the 2 engines. Serpentine belts are different and they are routed differently. My question is this... Can I still swap motors? Are these long blocks the same and is this a matter of swapping all the components? Will all my Ranger components swap over to the Explorer block? I do know that both motors have the same 8th digit (X) in VIN#. I'm not a mechanic but I am fairly good with my tools under the hood. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
