I know somebody has to have asked this before on here but i didn't find it anywhere. How hard would a sohc be to swap out with my ohv in my 97 ranger? I know that things like to computer will have to be switched but i mean parts like all the a/c stuff, alt. ext. will they still fit right? will the trannys swap out ? if anyone has any advice please help me out.

Your current trans will be fine......but if you've got an auto, you'll need the ecu/pcm (whatever the technical name is), engine wire harness, bunch of other doodads....possible motor mounts, exhaust modifications. If you were to swap, look for a 03+ unit, the timing chain/belt issue was supposedly taken care of for the 03 model year.

Bob Rwenzinger is the man....he'll know the differences.
