4.0L Replacement
Hello....helping buddy replace motor in a 2000 ranger 4x4 standard tranny..ive got top end all stripped and ready and looking for advice on trans....what is best procedure when it comes to trans...should i remove it along with motor, if so where do i split..at transfer case?looking for easiest way to do this so any help greatly appreciated a bunch
Just unbolt the trans and pull the motor. It's not hard. I just did it this way on my 05 three weeks ago. Plus you don't haveto disconnect the trans line. Unplug all the wires on top of the trans as it is one harness with the engine. It is not hard to do at all... Just time consuming
ok...i get ya...thought you were talking about a.t. trans coolant lines...ok and thanks for help..will be doing in morning and will let ya know how it went...got nice motor with 40k coming so looking good.
Good. You will moretha. Likely haveto strip the harness from the original engine and transfer it over. Just be careful when removing the engine that you don't hit the input shaft on thetrans.
I didn't wantto disconnectthe line for the slave cylinder on my truck cause I didn't want to try and bleed it after

Nope. At least I didn't have to... My trans didn't even settle down onto the exhaust which was right underneath. I did put a really long extension under it across the top of the torsion bars when I had to roll the truck back
Hey Ranger 4.0
Motor just arrived...on old one i removed plastic intake piece to attach a chain..and new one is complete and dont want to tear apart to attach chain...cant see where they attached one to yank it...so where is best spot to hitch up a chain for balance..only asking cause you just did yours and you can save me alot of trial and error...thanks Curt
