4.0L SOHC Exhaust System
4.0L SOHC Exhaust System
Not sure if this is the best place to post but just want to see everyones opinion on cat back exhaust systems, I have a 2003 4.0 SOHC. I want something that sounds good when you get on it but I dont wnat the drone on the freeway.
Haven't heard a Ranger with one, but my father in law has a 94 K1500, 350 engine, and is running Headman Headers with a full Gibson exhaust. The Gibson pipes and muffler really give that engine the OLD truck sound vs the newer, just loud exhaust sound most pipes/mufflers tend to do. I am going to look into MBRP and Gibson when I start working on my exhaust.
just curious if anyone ran a k&n intake with aftermarket exhaust. I've heard everything about them- that they add hp, no difference, only goo dwith new exhaust, add milage ect. and just wanted some more opinions before i buy one. thanks!
I have an 07 FX4 level II with the K&N cold air intake and magnaflow single cat back set up. It sounds good, personal choice, and to be honest I really haven't got an opinion on any increased HP (can't say I've noticed anything different, besides, its a ranger). I do like the sound of the K&N and Magnaflow set up though.

I have the essentially the same combo (K&N w/ Stainless Steel Magnaflow) but I have the dual real exit along with JBA Headers and they all perform great.
I have a K&N CAI, and a thrush Wielded muffler to lightning style side exhaust. on mine you here a whistle from air movement through the filter, and the exhaust gives a nice crackle. but if i was going to do it again i would switch for a flow-master of some sort.
