+4 Boush an 9mm JBA WIRES

Hey guys so i just put in a set of +4 boush plugs and 9mm jba wires. It starts and runs fine. But when i hit the gas it sounds off. kind of hard to describe. Also my lights are allot brighter. I am not just talking about the interior lights i mean everything seems brighter. whats up with that. am i going to burn something out or melt a piston. I am driving to Ontario tomorrow afternoon so i don't want to get stuck on the side of the road in the middle of no were. any input would be much appreciated.

Chris

Bosch plugs are known for their bad quality sometimes. I run a set and have no problems.

Did you make sure installed the wires in the correct order?

reader585 02-26-2009 05:02 PM

Yes i am sure i put them in, in the right order. I did one at a time.

whippersnapper02 02-26-2009 05:04 PM

What noise is it making?

reader585 02-26-2009 05:05 PM

rough. Like i needs a tune up or it is missing.

whippersnapper02 02-26-2009 05:07 PM

Go over the plug wires and plugs again. You could have a bag plug, wire or both. Also make sure the wires are firmly pressed onto the plug and coil. You should here a slight click.

chainfire 02-26-2009 05:15 PM

Did you check the plug gap before installing them? Most plugs will come pre-gapped, but it is generally a good rule to give them a check, you never know.

And i put in a red top as well. If that makes a difference.

whippersnapper02 02-26-2009 05:36 PM

You were probably just used to a weak battery and the red top fixed that.

I mixed up 2 wires when I changed mine. Ports five and six are actually six and five or something like that on the pack.

reader585 02-26-2009 06:21 PM

witch ones are five and six because if i did mix one up it would be on the passengers side.

big-blue-oval 02-26-2009 08:32 PM

to my understanding, there is no gap to set on the bosch +4s. i've never ran them, but this is my understanding of the matter.

I did the same thing

whippersnapper02 02-26-2009 08:35 PM

Correct. You can't set the gas since there is no room.

chainfire 02-26-2009 08:40 PM

Ahh I see, I use ngk's seem to have worked well for me

87xlt 02-27-2009 05:19 AM

x2

i dont know why people with passenger vehicles and light duty trucks think they need those.

thats probably the reason it sounds like ass, you have over-priced crap spark plugs in it

wydopnthrtl 02-27-2009 09:25 AM

LOL... unshrouded spark kernals are basic science. Which seems to escape most.

btw, you can do the same thing by having a plug with a reduced ground strap and indexing them. But hey.. what do I know?

Good question.....but running plugs too cold, and too short, aren't good things to do!!

reader585 03-08-2009 06:33 AM

I fixed the problem. It was just two crossed wires. It runs like a top now

05prerunner 03-11-2009 08:11 PM

So... you didn't change them one at a time... by the way, does it run better with the new wres? Always wondered about the JBAs.
