Hi, the only experience I have with replacing computers is doing so with new or re manufactured parts, or repairing the original computer at the circuit level on some older vehicles.

I worked as a commission paid mechanic since 1985 I can count on one hand how many bad computers I have personally found bad, replaced and the computer fixed the issue.

Two of those computers were replaced due to flood damage.

But since you know for sure your computer is bad, I will not bother telling you you should confirm the computer needs to be replaced before ordering one.

I certainly wouldn't waste your time by telling you none of the computers I replaced were diagnosed bad by a machine, scanner, or PC.

But I will tell you each bad computer I have ever correctly replaced was diagnosed down to the circuit by a factory pin point test flow chart.

When looking up a re manufactured computer for your truck at Rockauto they show many computers, there is only one that will work for your truck and yes the Last 3 numbers are needed to insure you get the correct one.

A-1 CARDONE 785784 {#F47F12A650ANA, F47F12A650ANB, F47Z12A650ANB} Reman. Engine Control Computer Info
RWD; Automatic trans.; Units are pre-programmed at the factory.; I.D. #(s) F47F-ANA,ANB; with Federal Emissions

1994 FORD RANGER 4.0L V6 Engine Control Module (ECM Computer) | RockAuto

Rockauto has this computer for $161 bucks plus core charge and shipping.

I would recommend double checking your part number, the part number you provided seems to be incorrect.

But since I am in a lot of pain and going on very little sleep do not trust my research.

The number you provided is F47F-12650-ANB

the number listed on Rockauto and other websites is F47F12A650ANB

F47F-12650-ANB
F87F-12650

F4 and F8 = year, F = 199 and number is that year so F4 is 1994 and F8 would be.......1998
(E was 198)

Year is important here because Ford changed Rangers over to the newer EEC-V 104 wire computers in 1995 model year
1994 and eariler Rangers used the EEC-IV 60 wire computers
So you couldn't even plug in a 1995 and up computer into a 1994 and earlier wiring harness, and vise versa

7 = Ranger/BII also Explorer on some years

F = General Parts/Electrical and Electronics Division

12650 = Fords generic part number for a computer, any year and any vehicle, 2017 Fords use this number for the computer

The letters and numbers after the generic number are software/hardware Versions and Revisions and can also denote manual or automatic transmission
Ford never published a decoder for these version or revision numbers so best to stay close to these letters/numbers or find posts with these denoting manual or automatic since that is the most important as they are not interchangeable
