99 Ranger 4.0 automatic can't get the shifting lever to move.
99 Ranger 4.0 automatic can't get the shifting lever to move.
I have a 99 Ranger with a automatic with the shift lever on the column. When I went to shift out of park I heard a small pop and the shift lever had a lot of play in it and I can't get it out of park. I am assuming something in the gear shift mechanism has worn out. My question is how would I go to get this apart and replace what ever is wrong. Thanks
Well I took the top cover off and removed the shift lever and pin and got to looking and the transmission column shift selector tube is broke all the way around the tube. Now the important thing is what is the easiest way to remove and replace the broken part. I haver the ford ranger workshop manual vol. 1 but it goes into quite a bit of detail that I was wondering if there is a easier and quicker way to replace it?
