ABOUT TO HIT 100 000km no more warranty..time to play

Well guys the day has come...warranty is done here right away..time to start playing.

Im looking into buying a used 4.0 out of an 03 for 900$ here and rebuilding it..or just leaving the one in the truck and slowly doing it..now i already have an intake and exaust so it would screw up warranty now i want performance stuff.. im looking at gettin a chip and well idunno what to do first...heads? headers?block? pistons? cams?rods?e-fan?...what do you suggest..it will be supercharged in time but the engine has to be complete first..for now what would you suggest for power? im open to any suggestions!!

I'd say start with a e-fan and a bamma(sp?) tuner, and go from there...

get a 5.0 and a supercharger. MUCH more gains. Screw those other mods. If you're gonna go big, well, go big.

Otherwise I'd say just buya supercharger and a chip and intake/exhaust, and you'd be off great.

That would be only 62,137 ish miles.. eh my 2000 has 80k.. yeah you'll get further with a 5.0L setup like Aaron said, but thats just IMO. Good luck with the project!

Pullies will help a bit with power, mostly torque. But I would NOT reccomend it if you are supercharging.

I would upgrade internals, get a supercharger, efan, intake, headers, exhaust, etc. I don't even think you need to change much on the internals...maybe a cam? rollers/rockers, etc...I have no idea even how our engine looks inside??

he has a 4.0L so he'd need 2 cams I'd get some performance cams if you do that.. because I sure hope that things dont need replacement due to wear after only 61k miles I wish I could rework my engine, that'd be a blast..

2 Cams? on his "4.0 Single OverHead Cam" engine? Interesting!

Single OverHead Cam- IE. 2 camshafts, 1 over each head. Example 2.3/2.5L SOHC, 4.0L SOHC V6, 4.6L SOHC V8..
Dual OverHead Cam- IE. 4 camshafts, 2 over each head. Example 2.3L DOHC, 3.0L DOHC, 4.6L DOHC..
OverHead Valve- IE. Cam in block. Example 3.0L OHV, 5.0L OHV..

Need more explanation? ILLUSTRATED VIEWS

yea exactly, i was considering just building there whole engine..ill just have the block replace the cams, rods, pistons, heads, headers and make the compression 9.0:1 for the super..but what power do you all figure just adding all that except for the charger will give?

and should i run nos with it or not...still debating that..

i want this to be a power house like rediculous for a ranger ...so whatever i can do ill do it lol.

yea and its only 100 000km and its all 100% highway miles.
