Rich,
I have got a question for you. I know just about everything there is to know about engine mechanics but when it comes to electronics I'm still in the dark ages. When I add a cold air intake how do I prevent the hp loss due to temperature?

YUP, it comes from Ford on all FFV vehicles. to convert to FFV, not only will you need a different PCM, you will need larger injectors, stainless parts in the fuel system, and depending on the year of your vehicle, you may need a E85 sensor.

Speed Limiter???

I know that going above 92 MPH probably isn't ever really necessary but my 05 FX4 tops out there. It cuts out just after 90 and I'm sure this is limited by factory settings but is there any way I can turn it off? Or does that leave the possibility to do more damage than good in my truck? I'm new to the ranger and bought it because it was about 6 grand less than the tacoma i wanted.... anyone and everyone who knows please help! thanks!

It can be disabled, but you need a tuner to do so.

So what kind of power gains are we going to get from the 4.0L sohc with say tuner intake, headers, and exhaust? using the x cal tuner and i guess just average between available tunes for it?

Should be idling around 750-850, and you can adjust that in the user adjustable setting before loading the tune.

I think I have heard that there is a 8-12 hp increase with just a tuner. the other stuff IDK. Keep in mind though that this is an increase in mid range power, not peak hp.

these tuners that are available, do you need ot worry about running lean or rich? i know they can be purchased as a boxed or vehicle specific but the companies program them to adjust for the fuel mixture. so there is no need to worry about detonation...

no it cannot be reprogrammed for your ranger they actually have two seperate tuners in the flashpaks one is for diesel trucks 03.5-07 and they have one for vehicals 04-2010 v6 or v8 gasoline.

I need to remove the speed cut off. I'm sick of being limited to only 90 mph. how much should I pay for this to be done?

I have a question, not exactly tuning but maybe you can shed some light on the situation.

I have a 99 ranger xlt v6 automatic and after running a while, i'll be stopped at a light and it'll start to hesitate and idle will drop and bounce around 300 to 400 rpm then die. It'll start right back up and run fine. Another thing is if I put in park at the light then it won't die.

Any ideas? Maybe the IAC, throttle body?

Also have seriose valvetrain noise, sounding like a diesel. Will seafoam and 5w20 help clear out the crud and help quiet it down?

i have a question, and i dont know if it has to do with tuning or not, but i am lost.
I have a 2001 ranger 4.0 SOHC w issues. it is reading the barometric pressure
incorrectly, and when it does it's starving my engine out. It started only doing it in
1st gear and now does it in every gear. i have replaced the following.
ECM, IAC, MAF, TPS, battery, plugs, wires, coil, fuel filter, PCV, fuel pressure test was good both at idle and off. when i look at the scantool it tells me its running great, but then it stumbles hard and baro goes bad. After i replaced ECM, it ran great for a while and
then it learned bad habbits and went back to a bad baro reading and it again started starving the engine. i dont know what else to try.
i replaced EGR and regulator last year, no codes comming up also replaced the
upper intake gaskets 2 years ago and have checked them, they are good (carb cleaner test)
pulled all 4 cats and they are not clogged.
please advise if you have any ideas, thanx
