Like I told Doug I was not starting any trouble, I was just wondering if what I was seeing/feeling was right. I have only heard good stuff about his tunes, so I was figuring something was wrong and wanted input.

Hope you understand that Doug.

BTW, Doug sent me this e-mail tonight. You can't find service like this anymore...

Hey James,

I'll send you some new tunes tonight with some more adjustments to them to
help with your issues.

thanks, Doug.

I believe you are a great guy with a good business going, but I sincerely believe the SCT Tuner I received has a defect. I’ve owned the tuner for a few months now and I’ve been playing with the various tunes vs. stock tune. There are moments where after loading the tune my truck drives funny until I remove the tune and re-install it (or leave it as stock), which leads me to believe that there may be something corrupt in the hardware or the tune itself.

I have read nothing but positive comments about yourself as an individual and your business products. I believe the product I received is a fluke. If possible, I would like to exchange my SCT Tuner. Since I’m unsure if the tune is the problem or the SCT device/cable is the problem; for piece of mind, I would like an entirely new SCT device, not just new tunes.

Since I never experienced any positive change with this device, and a few times causing my truck to be nearly undrivable, I have kept the paper work along with all the original packaging. I would greatly appreciate it if we could work something out.

Also, I own a laptop so if you would like me to do any data logging simply guide me in the right direction and consider it done. This is NOT a problem for me to do, if it helps modify the tune so it better suits my truck I would gladly do this.
Well put.

Well, Doug's reputation is well-deserved. I am being taken care of. Thanks Doug!

Remember guys, I had no problem with Bama at all, I was just concerned something was amiss just like TommyC. The Ranger is not going to jump off the ground with just a tune, which I mentioned I realized in the first post I made (but deleted so as not to offend Doug.) when compared to a 5.4 or 4.6, but there was just nothing there and with all of the glowing reviews on the product, I knew something was wrong. Now I can rest assured that all is taken car of. Can't wait to get it right.

Moderators: Please change the title of this tread to: Bama SCT 2 Tuner Problems and Fix.

Thanks!

Just came across this thread after Doug mentioned it to me. I know everything has settled down, but for the record, if anyone has any issues with BamaChips tuners the FIRST THING they should do is contact me or Doug.

You have to remember that a custom tune over mail order isnt always going to be dead on the first time around. But tweaking and datalog checking are ALWAYS free and so is our support on making the tunes the best they can be. If you dont feel a difference on a BamaChips tune then you need to contact me or Doug, because something is probably wrong!!

I contacted Doug about at the same time I came on here. The reason I came here was because I thought I was expecting too much from my previous experiences with tuning, most of which has been with various tunes for my Lightning and Mustang. Thus, I figured I was just jaded and expected too much so I wanted input. But after driving it more I realized something was amiss.

I am more satisfied now. I have what I expected for a 4.0 V6 3,800lb 4x4 truck. LOL I was more concerned with shifting, etc. than power production.

I still don't know why it revs to 2500rpm and holds that for a while (on cold starts after having been ran a couple of hours before) before settling down to 2000rpm (the normal level on cold starts after it sits overnight). That is 500rpm more than it ever reved on a cold start and while it shouldn't hurt anything it still scares me in this cold weather. Is it because I raised the idle RPM? I don't see how they could be connected, but ECUs can be strange...
