dont let your rpms go over 2000 first gear, just accelerate slow. bet it will double you mpg.

or eco boost swap

Tune up and don't press on it. Watch your RPMs.

Theres no such thing as a fuel efficent Ranger. Especially a 4.0.
I know your new, weve all been there, but try searching first. Some guys are ****** on here and will b*tch everytime you post a thread thats already been done lol. Me? I personally dont care lol. I think a thread should be restarted after a few months to keep the topic fresh but some people disagree

lol, single cab 2.3 is pretty good on the gas.

but the v6's haven't always been the greatest.

Hydrogen alternative

I installled a hydrogen kit on my 4.0 and a superchips economy programmer and get 24-25mpg in town with no engine codes at all, still have awesome power too. :-)

Thats pretty decent. Im thinkin bout a water/methanol injection kit on mine. Theyre fairly cheap for the hp and mpg improvements. And also, I could run a supercharger with a few more pounds of boost :)

But from what Iv been told and seen, there are 3 main things you do for MPG: exhaust, cold air intake, and a chip

Duct tape a raw egg to the gas pedal so that it is in between your foot and the pedal. If you break the egg, you will get really bad mileage.

A blown egg shell on the accellerator pedal is very effective (if you can keep from cracking the shell)

I've averaged 31MPG Canadian driving my '96 back and forth to the airport (30Km round trip). 4 liter 5 speed 3.55 rear end and 235/70 16 rubber. It takes concentration but it is not difficult. Just imagine that egg shell on the go pefal.

Does, "31 MPG Canadian" mean you were using the Imperial gallon?
Also, does, "back and forth to the airport" mean one trip or a regular commute?

I'm retired now and I had the same question and couldn't find an easy answer UNTIL the simplest solution moved into my head out of nowhere!! Simply drive less!! I'm serious, I just eliminated unnecessary driving!! My fuel budget went down, it didn't cost a dime to implement and I haven't missed a thing!! Getting old helps as well. It seems the older I get the fewer places I have to go or want to go!! STOP watching the mpg and monitor the gas expenditures instead!! Laugh all you want but it works and, with a lot less trouble!!

Yup. A little planning / consolidation / communication and intel (traffic reports) reaps benefits fast and big.

I had a science teacher in high school (53 years ago) who said -while we were all getting our driving licenses- "Driving's fun now but it'll wear off".
He didn't go to the economies of it. Frankly, the costs of driving went woefully undescribed.
