Brake Hose
Brake Hose
I am leaking brake fluid. I checked the calipers and drum I didnt see any leaks. Then I saw a line that runs down the drivers side wheel well, and goes into I believe is the parking brake. I tried looking it up but all the lines I see go to the caliper or drums. Does anybody know what this line is called and how to repair it.. Because half of it is behind the wheel well. Thank You in advance
Im losing a good amount. I filled the master cylinder the next day it was down again. This line looks like the brake lines that go to the calipors, but have differant fittings. Than it connects to a medal bracket and after the medal bracket its like a wire that goes all the way to the back of the truck. Thats why I think its part of the parking brake, but I just need that one hose not the whole kit.
if you know what line it is, follow it from one end to the other, front to back. look for the leak. I think it sounds like the one from the master cylinder to the rear brakes. should go along the driverside frame rail.
parking brake is a cable.
parking brake is a cable.
is there 2 lines that come out of the master cylinder ? or what comes out of the master cylinder ? It could be the feed line to the front brakes. the wire could be the cable to the parking brake.
you won't be able to replace it if you dont know where it starts and what it connects to.

If I feel behind the wheel well, it stops behind there at another metal bracket. Then the end I can see connects to a medal bracket. Then on the other side of that medal bracket is the hard line I believe is the parking brake that goes to the back of the truck. There is two lines that come out of the master cylinder.

if you know where it is and you can get it off. Go to a good auto parts supplier. They can either make brake lines or they have them in stock but you would have to bend it usually there or straight. Then when that day is right take off the brake line and match it up to the ones that they have
It looks like the brake line that would go to the calipers. It has the rubber around it but it has differant fitting. Its about a foot long to18". You should be able to buy that part, because it looks like its specially made being it goes behind the wheel well. So it has to be flexible.
Ok I looked at both calipers and both drums saw no wettness. On the inside of the drivers side wheel it looked like it was dry brake fluid on there. The caliper was dry, but if you look at that picture were it looks shinney thats were fluid was dripping out. If its not coming out of there whats above it that could be leaking? The truck has been driven a block after I noticed the brake fluid was low, I filled it and took it down the street to test it. The brakes were still spongy. Thats whenn I noticed it leaking from that hose or up above!!
ok, with that much fluid leaking I'd get a good flashlight and ck the brake lines from the master cylinder. start with the one that goes to the front brakes. the rear brake line is in the drivers side frame rail.
I'd think you should be able to see something.
