Does anyone use this? I use the high milage Castrol Gtx "anti-sluge" Just wondering if i should be using anything different? Is it good or bad........

 

That is all I have ever used in my vehicles incluiding the Ranger. I use a Motorcraft filter but Castrol GTX oil.

I don't know exactly what the "high mileage" motor oils are supposed to do, but I've been using Castrol Syntech since the 5000 mile oil change. Seems to run cooler with slightly better mileage. I also use a full synthetic gear lube in the rear diff. (the trans. fluid is already a synthetic.

 

I used to run Castrol GTX full synthetic. Never had an issue. I have since switched to Mobile one, I don't know why i really switch, I guess because everyone said Mobile one was the best.

 

I use the Castrol Syntec with a K&N oil filter. I've used it since day one. No problems.

 

I use Castrol GTX in all 5 of my vehicles and now in the $300 Hyundai I bought for my wife to drive. I have been using Castrol for years.

 

With modern day oils the base oils are pretty much all the same (in groups)
What is different is the additives and they are all so much better than even 10
years ago any oil is pretty much fine even the walmart crap. High mileage normally means its slightly thicker (still in grade) and has seal-conditioner
additives.

Translation its fine to use that.. better than some worse than others
more than sufficient for the application.
