Convert R12 AC system to R134

Convert R12 AC system to R134
I have a 92 4.0ohv Ranger with an old R12 ac set-up. Option one is to convert the system to R134-change compressor oil and ac fittings. The second option is to convert the entire system. I live in a wrecking yard paradise that has tons of 94 Explorers, so parts are affordable. What parts do I need to take to convert the system to an R134 system-compressor and what else; is it worth it?
My current system is completely empty, and I plan on changing all the o-rings if this matters. I know I can just get it filled with R12, but that is not the route I want to take.
Which option would you recommend and why? Thanks

I would do the swap to the current R134A refrigerant.
To change the system over you will need nylon barrier hoses and upgraded o-rings and service fittings.
You will also have to get all the old oil out of the system, which can prove very hard to accomplish.
Your current system may have a leak in the evaporator, condenser and or compressor, unless you know for sure those parts are good consider getting the entire system from the salvage yard.
I would not go through all of this work using used parts, new aftermarket parts are so inexpensive it does not seem to be worth the risk of wasting so much time on parts that may be junk and cause you undue stress.
