cut off tail pipes?

cut off tail pipes?
im doing this mod this weekend.

is it going to kill my horsepower or gas milage?

should i just dump it after the axel?

show me what you guys have done!

cut off the muffler... then weld in a straight piece of pipe of equal diameter. no loss of power (that i noticed) and a really great (LMF) sound. what size motor are you running?

I didn't notice any change when I cut off my muffler beside it sounding like crap

the 3.0L is nothing compared to the 2.3L with no exhaust...

everyone i kno with the 4.0 has the flow 40 with no tails.

i have glasspacks split after the muffler and dumped over the rear axle.. IMO i wouldn't do it. it increases cab noise by a lot..

It'll sound like crap if you cut the muffler off. Unless you are running a healty high compression small block, or big block under the hood...keep the dang muffler on it. Nobody wants to hear that

What about if you cut it off right befor it bends on the end just befor the tail pipe? Will it sound like crap if you do it that way

My 3.0 sounded like crap and I hear my brother's 4.0 all the time and it sounds like crap too.

If you cut it off after the muffler it will sound fine.

Moral of the story, Rangers with no muffler sounds terrible.
