ehxaust help please

I have a body lift on my '05 level ll. I hate the way the exhaust hangs low cuz of the lift. I don't have the funds right now to get a new system, so I have an idea but need advice please. I already have a flowmaster 40 on the truck si/so. I want to dump it right after the rear axle and put a stainless tip on it. Do i need a tip with a 2.5" inlet? Also, will it pass inspection this way in PA? Also, what about sound quality....thank you.

umm.....why spend the money on the stainless tip if it's not going to be seen?

2.5" inlet tip? the inlet for your tip is the size of your exhaust tubing. so...likely 2" inlet is needed.

Check your local specs as to legality of a semi-dumped system.

It'll be a little louder on the inside...but not that much louder compaired to dumped directly after the muffler like myself.

Here's an idea on the "tip" i would run.....

Exhaust

Well, I don't want to just cut it and leave it that way, it would look like crap. They have the tips you can purchase at advanced auto that fit pipes from
1 1/2" to 2 3/4" in diameter I believe it is. They are the ones you just screw on. I just want to give it a finished look, I guess I am **** ....the tip is only roughly 6" or so long.
